FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE NOTICED THIS.
But also, I have another head canon involving that... The gems are not just for "show" but also there in case of an emergency. Since they are probably darkstone and darkstone seemingly powers quite a bit of things, it is basically like them carrying an extra set of batteries inconspicuously if they have equipment that needs it (probably hand held lanterns or cannoneer's harpoon/s). That would also be another reason why boatswain has a lot of them since they are the one who make most repairs on the ship (also including some equipment).
It's just another reason why boatswain's cape sooooo much. I like my gems :D
Also, a little rant. I remember a conversation I had with someone when the season was live. They kept crapping on the cape colors not matching thus claiming that the capes didn't have a cohesive theme until I pointed out the gems (they didn't notice that.) And I also explained that it actually made sense for them to have different cape colors since (a) The spirits working in the crew are probably are from different areas and walks of life (b) would be able to tell who is who from a distance which could be useful in certain situations. Anyway, the convo opened the person's eyes to the capes and, yes, matching cape colors isn't everything people!!!! Other design themes and elements EXIST.
Hi!! Abyss crew love time. I just spotted something GREAT, and now own a new hc. Anyways.
Look! At! This!!!! They all have a Gem (yeah I know it's probably darkstone but still. I'm calling them gems)!!! Of course, this can be interpreted in a few ways, but as the person I am I can only see it in one way: acknowledgement that you're part of the crew- part of the family. They deserve that!!!
Anyways. Since Boatswain has the most gems, I think that they're the ones who make them. That headcannon kinda fell down to "they are longtime friends with Commodore, who trusts their judgement with distribution of the gems and safekeeping of loot" because why not!! And! They could also be the first mate of the crew! Among other things!!!
And of fucking course this means I'm finding a nice spot for my own skykid to wear a gem lmao. (I say, as I modify how her wristband looks like)
#sky cotl#sky children of the light#head canon#having brainrot is very powerful#also for some reason reminding me of like spy equipment toys that present themselves as one thing but are also another#like a pen that looks normal but is also a lazer pointer with invisible ink and a uv light.#except it just batteries#im sorry that was so specific#but what im saying is pirates do have a few tricks up their sleeves#so i would assume abyss crew would too

Danmei Faves Meet Chopped: The Thought Experiment
(with the caveat that I have not read All The Danmei so actually this is “a limited selection of danmei faves” meet chopped) (also as of their official translations, no spoilers pls)
The Contestants:
1) Xie Lian
Pros: There is not one single thing that you could put into a basket that this man would be intimidated by. Not a single thing. He will cook anything that you hand to him, and be delighted to do so. You cannot phase him with unlikely ingredients or conflicting flavor profiles, he has risen above these concerns. He is smiling at everything he pulls out of the basket and probably scaring the other contestants in the process.
Cons: He might kill someone. Not on purpose. He will be out after round one, guaranteed, once the medics standing by in case of cuts intervene for a severe case of “all the judges are now poisoned.” Filming will probably have to stop so ambulances can be called. The crew generously allows him to take his leftovers with him.
2) Wei Wuxian
Pros: He is going to pack so much flavor in every bite! Every single bite! This man knows and embraces spice, and no one will be able to tell him that his meal is bland or underseasoned! Chili oil all over the damn plate!
Cons: The flavor is pain, he’s used every pepper the pantry has, and if he makes it to round two it’s only because of Xie Lian accidentally unleashing the horrors in round one.
3) Mo Ran
Pros: He’s a good cook! He makes a variety of dishes, and he’s gotten used to adjusting recipes for specific preferences. He’s well-traveled so it’s likely he’s encountered many ingredients and had practice in a variety of conditions, which is good experience to have in this competition. He’s been doing his best to be on his best behavior, but heaven help anyone who monopolizes the fryer.
Cons: Again - he’s been on his best behavior, but that’s really for one person who is not currently in the kitchen. He also only really cooks for one person, who has particular tastes.
4) Luo Binghe
Pros: Also a good cook! He, too, has a range of dishes he knows how to prepare, with years of practice going back (probably) as far as his adoption in his early childhood. He is well-traveled as well, with such exciting and… unique locales such as Hell Dimension (aka Endless Abyss) where he probably had to make… questionable culinary choices, so he probably won’t be thrown by whatever’s in the basket.
Cons: There’s a non-zero chance that there’s blood in the food.
(Of this particular line-up, I think it would come down to Mo Ran vs. Binghe for the dessert round, which will be a close call - they both have experience with desserts, I imagine, but I think Mo Ran might have a slight advantage considering Chu Wanning’s sweet tooth. He’s made a lot of sweets and more often. Also, can Binghe lean on a “protagonist halo” when Mo Ran is the protagonist of his own story?)
(Assuming the final round doesn’t devolve into chaos and sabotage, which… is very, very possible.)
The Non-Contestants:
Hua Cheng: Could he do well on chopped? Almost certainly. But why would he? He is here to cheer on gege.
Lan Wangji: Would probably actually do better than Wei Wuxian, if he cooks the meal to Wei Wuxian’s taste - I feel like he would be a little more sparing with the spice. Otherwise, his food is probably too bland for the judges.
Chu Wanning: He has one good dish, and it’s [redacted]. He could last a round but after that he’s probably out. He will do his best. He will not look like he is panicking (he is panicking).
Shen Qingqiu: A millennial who choked to death on bad food and rage. He probably has limited kitchen skills, but beyond the powers of having a microwave? Who knows.
Bonus Round:
Li Yu: He would try so hard. He would put every bit of skill he had on the table. He does not have any skill to put on the table. Do not put a fish in his basket, do not do this to him.
Mu Tianchi: Probably wouldn’t even compete. He’s going to steal Li Yu’s food from the judges. How dare they.
Chang Geng: He could probably do well in the competition, if he could be convinced to compete, but he probably couldn’t. He is smiling very politely at the producer, who is feeling a chill down their spine and backing away slowly.
Gu Yun: Do not let this man in the kitchen, he will cause problems on purpose.

Hello! May I get some strawberries and possibly some mango with a mai tai (Kidd) and songs 3,4 and 16 from the playlist please! Thank you so much!
hihi ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ ♡ i love writing for kidd, he’s so ridiculous all day every day. ty for requesting & i hope you have fun reading 💛💕
1k words (it wasn’t my fault), gn reader (no pronouns), nsfw, 18+ mdni; fluff (it’s there somewhere) & smut; feat. kidd & reader in denial bc that’s how i live my life, a lil fwb except is that all there is~, alcohol, kidd being dumb & that’s how reader likes him (tbh me too), rough sex (does kidd even know the definition of gentle? no?), kitchen sex, choking, a lil bit of a hand job, idk no real warnings except eustass kidd deserves his own warning bc *motions to him* have u seen that man in action (if u see spelling errors/grammar mistakes no u didn't 💕)
it’s not goodbye, you remind yourself for the fourth time that night, throat suddenly dry at the thought. the ice in your cup melted a while ago, so you toss the watered-down drink onto the sand before standing up. when eustass kidd insisted on throwing a party, you didn’t think much of it; how quickly you forget that pirates are notorious for their theatrics and kidd isn’t immune to that behavior.
a large bonfire blazes in the middle of the beach, the air warm and sticky; you hate how humid it is and hate that you let the others talk you into drinking. now your hair is tied up, to keep its thickness away from your neck and face, as sweat glides down your skin. without looking back, you leave everyone behind and make the short trek back to your house. you’re determined to shower and call it a night; you doubt your presence will be missed that much.
after downing another shot of tequila, a frown works its way onto kidd’s lips as he stares at the empty shot glass in his hand. he’d meant to just have a few drinks, but he got roped into game after game by his crew mates and he lost track of time.
now you’re gone.
it’s a sobering enough thought that he shoves the glass into wire’s hand, not bothering to explain himself as he goes searching for you. he doesn’t like that you left the party early, and he doesn’t like that he’s a little bit miserable because you’re not with him right now.
it’s foolish to feel that way and equally foolish to want to do something about it. he knows that, but it’s not enough to make him turn back around.
when he finds your backdoor unlocked — a nasty habit that he can’t believe you refuse to correct — a small wave of irritation surrounds him. you didn’t bother locking the door because you knew he’d eventually make his way over — you assumed it would be much later, but kidd is always unpredictable.
and because he’s incapable of stealth when he’s annoyed, you hear him rummaging through your kitchen. you stand in the doorway, hands on your hips as you watch him eat several pastries in a row.
the man’s stomach is an abyss, you’re quite sure of it now.
“there are plates, y’know,” you say lightly, a teasing smile sliding onto your face with ease, “and napkins too.” since it’s obvious kidd has no home training whatsoever. he doesn’t see what the fuss is, but he knows it drives you crazy when he does that — which is possibly why he keeps doing it.
“didn’t feel like using them.”
his answer should annoy you, but it doesn’t; if anything, it just makes you smile again, a little sadly this time. it doesn’t go unnoticed by kidd, however, who narrows his eyes at you.
“why do you keep leaving that door unlocked?”
you blink a few times, confusion briefly taking hold of you before you realize he’s serious. “you ask me that all the time,” you counter and walk over to him, voice airy as you decidedly stuff the rest of your complicated feelings for him into a tiny box. “and what do i always say?” you place your hands on his chest — soft and gentle, which only annoys him even more.
because you like to do that — touch him like you care, like you enjoy his presence. his mind likes to play tricks on him, so he refuses to believe it; except it’s hard to tell the truth from fiction when he leans down to kiss you. all those pesky, bothersome thoughts coast to the back of his mind when you lick a bit of powdered sugar from his lips.
when he kisses you again, a different kind of heat passes through you, making you press closer, practically melting against him when his tongue caresses yours. it’s in between sloppy tongue kisses that he asks you to come with him — the decision is rash, and he hasn’t thought it through all the way, but the idea of you staying behind only pisses him off.
your heart beats a little too loudly at the prospect of leaving home and going off with him, but your answer is lodged in your throat, unable to come out no matter how badly you want to tell him yes.
he knows how deep your stubbornness goes, so naturally he’s just going to have to help you make the right decision. when he hoists you onto the counter, you unzip his pants with hurried movements and kidd groans softly as you start stroking him. you like the luxury of having your own place, but you know you’ll be lonely when kidd leaves — more unpleasant feelings that you can’t seem to keep hidden.
you wrap your legs around him as he inches his cock inside of you — slowly, at first, before he pulls back and snaps his hips forward, thrusting roughly. your lips are on his again, fingers sifting through his hair as he fucks you harder.
“come with me,” he insists again and again, you shake your head and keep your lips pressed together because you know you’re so close to saying otherwise. he clicks his tongue and he grabs your throat so you can look at him. “why?”
you wish he’d let this go — but a small, much more selfish part of you is glad he’s pressing the issue. “because…” you gasp and moan when he squeezes your neck as he gives you short, brutal strokes. kidd’s stamina is unrivaled; he fucks you like he’s trying to break the counter, nearly forgetting himself and his brute strength. he eases up a bit and releases his hold, but you’re panting when you speak again.
“w-what if you get tired of me?” your voice is quiet, but he hears you perfectly clear.
kidd rolls his eyes before tugging on your earlobe with his teeth. “is that all?” a ridiculous fear, but he can’t really judge you, now, can he? kidd fixes you with a pointed look, one that says be serious. he almost admits that he could never be tired of you, not even if he tried.
you want to tell him that you’re being very serious, but don’t get the chance as his cock hits a spot that has you babbling incoherently at him. kidd laughs out loud because knows what your answer really is; he’s just going to keep fucking you until you can say it with conviction.

Married!Captain x Dark HCs
(I haven't been able to stop thinking about this ask from @psychnerd713 and only after I gave an answer did my brain decide to properly start thinking about it, so. Here's a continuation.)
The wedding is a quiet affair, just the two of them. Much as the Captain loves their crew to death, they didn't want anything loud or to have too much attention. This was for them and him. Thankfully, the Captain has both the knowledge and license/authority to officiate their own wedding, the very first to take place on their new planet.
The Captain says nothing about having gotten married afterwards, though it doesn't take too long for someone to catch them with their gloves off, the ring standing out starkly. The discoverer stating their surprise and lack of knowledge about the Captain being married draws a lot of attention, eventually bringing Celci around to mention that the Captain's records upon boarding the Invincible stated that they weren't married.
"It happened recently. Didn't want a lot of attention or to cause a commotion."
Questions about 'who' and 'where' and 'when' and 'why they hadn't said anything before' immediately began to flood in.
"No one that any of you would know. Not too far from the settlement. Almost a month ago, now. Because it's a rather complicated situation."
Cue Dark suddenly appearing through what looks like a hole in the universe.
"I would say you certainly seem to have some timing... except I know you're always watching or listening."
"I worry."
"I know. You're a professional worrier at this point. And due to the sorts of things that have happened, I don't mind a bit. It's nice to have an extra pair of eyes on things."
The crew, of course, feels rather hurt that they weren't at the very least told about the Captain getting married before now, but ultimately understand - at least, as much as they're able to without all the details of what led up to it all, but that's an entire lifetime and then some, and it would simply take much too long to try to explain it all just then.
Dark wears a glamor for the first while, hiding his inhuman skin tone and the unnatural (and sometimes uncomfortable) aura that usually surrounds him. The first time he lets any of it down is actually accidental, an ever-so-slight slip of his concentration as he's walking around the settlement, speaking and reminiscing with the Captain. All it takes is for the Captain to make him laugh, a burst of cyan sparkling off of him like flecks of aquamarine catching the sunlight, a small ripple of red following in its wake.
He starts consciously allowing parts of his aura to show through after that. The red and cyan anaglyphic effects. The grey pallor to his skin. An occasional feeling of slightly increased air pressure around him. It's assumed that that's all there is to him... until he's seen getting irritated at a certain wannabe usurper in the crew. Grey creeps off his skin like smoke, eventually coalescing into a sphere around him, the color of everything in this area being sapped away until it is removed from this proximity. That slight pressure becomes a heavy weight, pressing down like the gravity had suddenly shifted to be double or triple of what it should be. And then there's the high-pitched ringing, like a gun had gone off much too close by, and the creaking, as if something wooden were under a strain. No one could deny that the Captain's husband made for quite the intimidating sight when he wanted to be, and he hadn't even raised his voice.
He'd introduced himself to everyone by the name Dark, and though people always hear the Captain calling him Damien (and diminutives thereof) no one calls him anything else.
Dark sometimes disappears for a few hours, but no one knows where he goes and they've no intentions of asking and potentially butting into personal business. Some have heard the Captain asking him how 'the Others' are doing when he comes back again - always through those abyss-like doorways that close too fast to see anything but a pitch black void. Eavesdroppers often hear talk of someone called 'Will' getting up to all sorts of things. Regardless of what names are mentioned, there is always clear fondness in his tone, if sometimes colored with exasperation.
Knowing me, my brain probably won't let this go even still, so if I end up with more thoughts, there will be a sequel to this.

Incorrect Quotes (ssenmodnaR Edition)
Now that it's been a while since "It's Gotta Be Perfect," SMG4's once again feeling comfortable with the idea of being more ambitious with his videos. Thankfully he has learned his lesson and won't be striving for perfection, and he also won't be trying to go it alone. Instead, he's taking inspiration from the man he was designed as a self-insert of and putting together a production crew (of actual employees, not enslaved Toads. That's another low point he doesn't want to go back to.
Next up on the applicant list is Baljeet, for some reason, who's been asked to put together a meme compilation as a test of his editing skills.
"Alright kid, show me what you got."
"Of course," he moves to hit the play button, but pauses to add, "I should warn you, however, that it is a bit... strange, at certain points." He hits the button before 4 can ask what he means.

The Moonlight || A Killian Jones X Reader Story
Chapter 5: Dear Killian...
After finding yourself in Storybrooke seeking a new adventure, your life gets flipped upside down after you find out that your new-found visions are more powerful than you could imagine. All you know is that an adventure in the moonlight is coming and for whatever reason, Killian Jones was at the heart of it.
A/N: Thank you so much for continuing to support this story. I adore everything about it!
Was it clear that going to Grannies the following morning to get a coffee hoping to see Killian was a mistake? Yes. Did I do it anyway? Absolutely. Emma was gone early this morning when I woke up; I assumed it was more magic-related electricity issues that needed to be fixed, but that didn’t matter to me. What mattered was the strange electricity I felt while looking at Killian. Sure, he was conventionally attractive but not ‘electric shock through your body that your magical friends could sense’ attractive, and now I had more questions than answers. Emma and Regina’s warning to steer clear of him, next to Gold’s warning of a prophecy, conflicted in my mind as I stirred my coffee for what felt like the thousandth time.
“Stir that coffee anymore, and its vortex might swallow you”, Ruby laughed as she walked over to my table. “Here, a pastry on the house. You seem to be going through it this week” She smiled as I thanked her as she turned to walk away. I know this town is small, but everyone learns about everything quickly. As the diner's quiet chatter started getting louder, I realised there was a commotion outside. I turned to look out of the window to be greeted by a group of pirates. At their helm, Killian Jones. They were rowdy but not angry, and it was clear that they had been drinking.
Killian was the first to push his hook through the door. A slight stumble made him take a couple of steps in. I instantly wanted to make myself smaller. Small talk was not my forte, but small talk with an attractive drunk pirate was even worse. I watched as he assessed the room and locked his eyes on mine for a fleeting moment before turning to Ruby behind the counter.
“A beer for me and all me crew, if you will, sweetheart”, He spoke in a firm yet slurred tone. He missed Ruby muttering something about it only being 8 am while his crewmates all divided into booths with each other. Clearly, she didn’t want any trouble, so she just got on with it. That’s when Killian decided he would turn his attention back on me. I prayed to any god that could hear me ‘make me disappear,’ but that was not how my magic worked, and I was stuck under Killian’s glare.
“It’s (y/n), right?” He asked with a shockingly more sober tone. I settled for a nod and a gulp of coffee which he seemed to interpret as a “Come join me” and not a “Leave me alone”. As he walked closer, that static electricity began to build again. With his dark brow furrowed, I could see that he felt it too. He put his hand out into the static abyss and rubbed his fingertips together. “How strange?” He muttered as he tried to push closer. The more he pushed, the more I could feel my heart on fire. It burned like someone was zapping me with a taser directly into my chest.
“Enough!” I shouted with my hand clutched to my chest. “It hurts so bad, Killian, please!” My screams were enough for him to take a step back, freeing my heart from the fiery shocks. It took me a moment to gather my breath and for the silent diner to return to its regular chatter. If I didn’t know any better, I would say there was a concern on Killian’s face, almost like he didn’t like the idea of me hurting at his hand, but he was a pirate and hurting people is what they do.
“I normally like a beautiful woman to beg me to stop in a more pleasurable way,” He laughed before pulling a seat from the table opposite me to the barrier of the electric field. The tingles were enough to know he was there but not enough to cause me pain. “I didn’t mean to hurt you, love. I’m sorry.” His apology was genuine, but does that mean his concern was too? Ruby dropped his beer to his table before flashing her eyes at mine to ensure I was okay. I gave her a sly nod and continued my conversation.
“I’d say it was okay, but I have no idea what’s going on”, I mused over another sip of coffee, Gold’s prophecy playing on my mind. Not only is it unbelievably depressing that if Killian were my true love I would never be allowed to touch him without being in immense pain, but I suddenly have the responsibility of all the realms happiness on my hands. I must have looked deep in thought because after what felt like forever in my brain, Killian was pulling me out of it.
“I think you know more than what you’re letting on, love”, He questioned me, and I’m sure my eyes gave it all away to him like an open book flicking through pages. “Alas, I’m not here to pry”, He shrugged, drumming his fingers on the table.
The awkwardness in the silence subsided when we started talking about our lives before Storybrooke. I told Killian of my love for travelling and my artwork from around the world, and he asked what brought me here. I responded with the truth of adventure. He told me stories from the seas and far-off realms. It felt like seconds, but we had been there distanced and laughing with each other for hours. I only glanced at my phone to see if I was going to be late for my class, and I was.
“Well, Killian, this has been strangely lovely,” I laughed “, but I have got an art class to teach at the school, so I have to make a move” Rising from my seat, I grabbed my bag and swung it over my shoulder. A flash of disappointment clouded his face.
“Aye, of course, love”, he nodded. I wanted so badly to reach out and embrace the beautiful man in front of me, but the reminder of the pain in my chest instantly changed my mind. Plus, I didn’t even know this man, although it felt like we had spent a lifetime together over a coffee in the diner. He could want me dead for all I know.
“I’ll see you around, pirate” I smirked, and he rolled his eyes. He stood up to meet his crew mates in their booths, surely drinking into the day.
*********
“Don’t deny it. You had a diner full of witnesses,” Emma exclaimed as we sat on the sofa that evening. She was right. I wasn’t exactly discrete.
“The class went well, thanks for asking” I gave a gentle dig at her. I was right, though. Not even the inkling of a vision appeared.
“Don’t change the subject (y/n). He is bad news,” Emma sighed as she topped up the glasses of wine on the table. I know she has had a busy day, but this felt like it was more of a genuine concern.
“Not as bad as the news of being a potential prophecy”, I murmured, and Emma’s eyes widened so large I thought they would fall out of her head.
“What prophecy!?” I could feel the magical energy radiating off her as she reached for her phone. I took the time to explain the prophecy that Gold had told me about. I told her about the electricity, the heart pain, the way Killian made my heart run a thousand miles an hour. The last point wasn’t essential, but the butterflies started taking over, and I could have spoken for hours bout how soft his eyes looked when I was explaining my time in Tokyo or how he laughed when I told him that I ended up in hospital in because a goat kicked me in the stomach on a night out. Not to mention the emotion on his face when he explained his fights and victories on the Jolly Roger. God, I could have listened to him for hours.
“You like him…” Emma snapped me back into reality.
“What? No! I’m just… Okay, fine, I like him, but it’s not like I can do anything about it. The prophecy is clear. True love will always be unattainable for me” I shrugged as I downed my fresh glass of wine. Emma looked deep in thought for a moment.
“If there is something my mum has always taught me, true love always finds a way and if… it’s a big if Killian is your true love; then we will find a way.” Emma smiled at me. I sighed an enormous sigh of relief. “Write a letter, explain the legend and prophecy to Killian. I’ll drop it off to Grannies for you. No more pain for you; then Killian can understand what’s happening”
This was a brilliant idea. I grabbed my binder out of my bag and started the letter…
“Dear Killian…

BERMUDA TRIANGLE DIVE
BERMUDA TRIANGLE DIVE
By cookie monster 82801 (first draft)
It has been a year since the private jet went missing. They narrowed down the location based on the last signals heard from the craft. Extensive searches of the area turned up nothing. It was assumed that it ran out of fuel and slipped into the deep abyss. It would be like finding that missing needle in a haystack.
We were about to dive in the area for other reasons. Predive briefing told us about the missing craft and alerted us to have an open eye in case we happen to see a needle.
Aaron was the lead diver going down. His Kirby dive helmet was equipped with communication equipment so he could talk with the surface. He was on an umbilical line. I was his back up diver. I was instructed to go check it out when suddenly communications with him had been cut off. I descended down following the umbilical line. I did casually check my surrounding area to assure there were no sharks or other predators that may complicate the dive. But I was heavily focused on the line and in a hurry to assure Aaron’s safety.
I stared and could not believe my eyes as Aaron came into my sight. Suddenly, out of nowhere, they were upon me. They seemed to know what they were doing as they yanked my communication loose before I could warn the surface about what I was seeing. I got another glance of Aaron, and the fight was on.
Who ever they were, I was no match for them. It did not take them long until I was looking at Aaron restrained and in the same situation, he was in. I moved my head from side to side and Aaron responded doing the similar motion. At least he was still alive. We were both helpless. All we could do is wonder what would happen next. The terror of our predicament began to set in. Our umbilical cords could be cut at any moment. Who ever our attackers were could also be attacking our crew on the surface.
A sense of calm came over me as I accepted my total helplessness in this situation. I thought to myself that if they intended to kill us, we would not be living now. All I would be able to do was wait this out and see where it would go.
Initially, I focused on Aaron. He also seemed to be calm in his powerless. He was in this predicament longer than I had been.
My thoughts turned to our families and friends and how they would react to us being gone. This was probably going to hurt them as much or even more in some circumstances.
I changed my focus back to fighting this. Fighting this for my friends and family. I tested each and every restraint that they had me in. I struggled until I realized it was futile. I looked over at Aaron who by now had already accepted the futility of any struggle. Aaron managed to give me the okey signal which I returned.
Our captures came back too us. I could see 3 of them working on Aaron. Initially we both tried our best to resist as our umbilical was disconnected. I thought to myself that it would not be very long now. But then surprisingly our captures connected us to a new umbilical.
“WE WANT YOU TO JOIN US!” Was the first words that came over my ear piece.
“Can I speak with Aaron?” was my first reply.
“I can hear ya!” Aaron responded.
The joy of hearing his voice again caused a flood of tears that I could not wipe away. Where ever we were headed at least we would have each other.
Chapter 2 BERMUDA TRIANGLE DIVE
I thought back on how Aaron and I first met as dive buddies in dive school. He was not afraid to be dive buddies with the ‘faggot’ in our class. That faggot being me. While the school could not discriminate based on preference, my classmates had no legal obligation to accept me.
I could not hide who I was, ‘my preferences’, from the school. They would do a background check and be able to discover it with little or no effort. I was very open about who I was even back to my high school years. Also, I did not need any ‘secrets’ that could be used against me. They could not block me from the school for being gay but they could if I was a liar.
Aaron was a straight guy who never believed in discrimination. He shared that he had misgivings as he stood up for what he believed in. He feared retribution for his stand. At the time he stood up for me, our country had been in a rebound of rage from the far right. Bigots were emboldened by many who gave them more legitimacy and power then they warranted. But Aaron felt he needed to stand up for what he felt was right. He indicated he thought as a fellow human being I had as much right to be a diver as he did.
Based on diving and several other mutual interests, Aaron and I developed a close friendship. We camped out with each other and often took long hikes in the mountains. During football season we both had a brew and were clued to the same big screen. Once I even got tickets for us to see a Vikings vs. Green bay Christmas game at US Bank stadium. I was a Viking fan and he was a cheese-head. He shared that it was one of the best Christmas presents he ever had. Unfortunately for me, the Vikings came up short on the final score.
I mused with him About his name being Aaron like Aaron Rodgers. “We are probably both named after Hank Aaron!” He replied. “I was born shortly after he broke the Babes record!”
I made it clear to Aaron that I would not resist if he ever wanted to “DO ME”. I also indicated I owed him head anytime he was interested, for all that he had done for me. He clearly understood how hot I thought he was. He took that as one of the highest compliments that I could give to him. He accepted my feelings for him, but it never went any further.
He was HOT! There was always an interested lady in his life. But for some reason, he never made any commitments. He even shared with me how much he wanted to become a daddy someday. I could picture how he would be a good loving daddy to some kid someday. Many times, our diving careers took him away from any long-term relationships. About the time he was ready to pop the question on a beautiful lady, he was headed around the world on a dive assignment.
Chapter 3 BURMUDA TRIANGLE DIVE
It was clear to me that we would not be going to the surface anytime soon. The new umbilical cords we were attached to went down and ran along the floor of the ocean.
“CAN WE DO THIS WITHOUT FORCE?”
I looked over at Aaron. We both looked at the overwhelming number of divers that were now surrounding us.
“What do ya think buddy?” I asked Aaron. It all seemed futile to me but I was willing to follow whatever action Aaron wanted to take.
“We got on other option!” Aaron replied. “They got us by the umbilical and they got us outnumbered.”
I was not certain if Aaron was just saying that to get out of the restraints or if he meant it. I was prepared to put up a battle to our death also if Aaron initiated one.
“We will comply with you as long as we can see each other and as long as you do not harm us!” Aaron indicated to our captures. “You on board with that?” Aaron asked me. I just signaled OK.
“WE WISH YOU NO HARM. WE WANT YOU TO JOIN US NOW!”
The captures began to release the restraints. They rubbed where they had applied the restraints and gave us the ‘okay’ signal which we returned. They now began to check with us frequently to assure we were ok. Someone was gathering up the umbilical as we moved in the direction of the source of our air. As we moved along, my eye caught sight of some wreckage. There were some older ships and then I spotted the aircraft that was recently missing.
I was puzzled about what kind of dive equipment they had. Occasionally I could see bubbles go to the surface from them as they exhaled.
It looked as if we were swimming into an underwater cliff. Lights came on as we were about to reach a black hole. We followed the white light and the cord. We seemed to swim horizontally thru a cave and suddenly we were in a much larger open area where we surfaced into an underground air bubble. We swam on the surface over to a platform along the wall. They assisted us to a standing position on the lower platform that was waist deep under the surface of the water.
Tenders were now surrounding us and removing our helmets and fins. Once the helmets and fins were off, we were assisted to an upper dryer dock. They helped us to stand on the upper dry dock. We were instructed to remove the rest of our suits. We could go no further with anything we had before. We had to get completely naked.
I glanced over at Aaron much like I had done before in the locker rooms we had been in. I thought about how sick a mind I must have to be able to drool over him at a time like this. Aaron Just smiled and winked indicating he knew where my head was at. I noticed that my ‘lust’ indicator was on the rise.
We somehow overheard that our ‘empty suits’ would be brought back and connected to the original umbilical cords we started the dive with. Our mates on the surface would have no way of explaining our disappearance when they pulled our suits from the water. Just one more disappearance in the Bermuda Triangle.

The first officer had cast the android into an abyss of doubt. Although he had managed to obscure his emotions on the bridge, they threatened to undermine his emotional stability now... The synthehol was not the source of Commander Newton’s outburst, nor could it have functioned as the proverbial last straw. It was too trivial; it would not make sense to utilise the prohibition of alcoholic beverages as the foundation for one’s argument to resent another. Therefore, he inferred that the factor, or factors that were responsible for this unprofessional conduct either emanated from multiple grievances, or Data, himself, had inadvertently provoked this type of behaviour; perhaps his presence alone had compelled Newton to assume a hostile attitude toward him. Either way, the android was determined to ascertain if it was still possible to douse the fire he had ignited in his second-in-command and hopefully to eradicate any deep-seated hatred the man harboured for him.
While his positronic brain had generated his stream of consciousness and simultaneously coordinated a profound search for the correct approach which he could employ to prevent the situation from escalating, his gaze had wandered. His yellow eyes lay motionless in their sockets as they were surveying the stars. Had he failed to adequately perform his duties as captain? He had attempted to emulate Picard, but had implemented aspects and behavioural patterns he, himself, valued in command, and which Picard did not exercise. Evidently, this had been insufficient... Had his years of experience aboard the flagship of the Federation abandoned him the moment his molecules were merged back together on this transporter pad? Why could humans never eradicate their own prejudices and look further than the exterior and behold the individual instead?
‘I have been devised to operate within pre-established parameters,’ he commented enigmatically on Avyra’s praise, attempting to brush it off ⸺ neither compliments nor confirmations of his correct behaviour were going to serve in his advantage.
The emotion chip was active, but he continually dismissed the sensations he was enduring. In his mind there was only doubt, but his circuitry was burning with anxiety, and his neural net was tingling with disappointment and frustration. Perhaps he had erred. He was trying to captain this ship to the best of his abilities, but if the majority of the crew loathed him purely on the basis of him being an artificial lifeform, he was uncertain he would be able to proceed with this career path ⸺ at least for now... Maybe he should resign and return to the Enterprise, to serve as Picard’s first officer. But that would mean deserting this ship, its projects, its ideologies, a noble cause. And besides, he could not, would not, give Newton the satisfaction of seeing him walking to the transporter room with his tail tugged between his legs, his pride wounded as he ran back to his master...
‘I do not know. The emotions are constantly contradicting one another; their nature confuses me and it is difficult to retain concentration... There had been a time when I would have done anything to experience emotions, but now, I... I wish I had not been so enthralled by approximating humans. It is a fool’s errand; a machine can never be human, nor be regarded as one. There will forever remain a wedge between humanity and synthetics that cannot be equalised ⸺ no matter how admirable your service record is,’ Data said indignantly. ‘Perhaps it would be prudent to deactivate the chip and remove it until Starfleet Command has assigned a more suitable Captain to this ship, so I can return to the Enterprise to serve alongside mine.’
He always endeavoured to improve himself, to reach the highest possible goal, but his time aboard the Artemis had shown ⸺ no ⸺ proven to him that, clearly, humans were not yet ready to accustom themselves to being led by an android. Perhaps it would be better for him to standdown and reside in Picard’s shadow until humanity was prepared to accept androids in command.
‘I often keep wondering that perhaps my brother was right about humanity. There will never be a place for beings like us. No matter how hard we try,’ Data decreased the volume of his voice to a whisper, his yellow eyes locking with Avyra’s. ‘The notion of yielding to my brother’s words does not appeal to me, but instances like the one that occurred today, make me realise that he might have been right all along...’
He was right. Avyra could submit to that fact, even if she had been perhaps part of the problem. Unfortunately, she didn't have the heart--nor was it the place--to inform him that visiting admirals aboard this ship had also been involved in such behavior.
The unfortunate thing about humans: they loved to bend the rules.
But this situation wasn't simply bending rules. Nobody on this vessel had been hurt by drinking real alcohol. Synthahol could get one just as drunk, but regardless, there hadn't been any fights or harmful experiences. Breaking the rules, yes, but nobody was hurt.
In contrast, it had looked like Newton had wanted to kill Data. Avyra had seen aggression from people like that before, scary and cold. Such reactions only came from those who did not care who they hurt to get what they wanted. And Newton wanted the USS Artemis.
"Fine. I'll think of something less derogatory, then." She wouldn't. 'Dick' was being courteous. After a moment, she sighed, letting the tension in her shoulders fall away for a moment. "Enough about him, though. You're handling this better than I would be. How are you feeling? Like. Really feeling? You... don't have to be professional with me. Sometimes it helps to just. Release."

Shade Lord Ghost Drabbles: Pleasing a God
Ghost gets a 'personal' hot spring built. Not their knowledge, but their worshippers had to do something after the sacrifice fiasco. Shenanigans can go from a wandering poet seeing them just vibing in the waters while playing with lumaflies or some wholesome family bonding (aka the pool episode in any anime).
~
Menderbug’s specialty was mending things, it was a grand job and respectable title. But how could he possibly decline when asked to help build something for the Shade Lord? His long experience with maintaining the hot springs made him the ideal fellow to lead a team in enlarging one without damaging the flow of soul water.
The Godseeker had wanted them to work on the hot spring in the Deepnest, claiming it was the one the Shade Lord most often visited and was closest to the Abyss, therefore ideal in every way. Menderbug had had to insist that wouldn’t work though; Deepnest was a too frightening a place to comfortably work for most bugs and the Shade Lord frequenting it meant their project would be found out before it was done. Not the end of the world but a surprise was best revealed when it was ready. She hadn’t been happy about it but she’d relented and had followed Menderbug’s suggestion to enlarge the one in Crossroads instead as it was already the largest.
Much discussion had been had whilst it was being worked on about whether or not a proper light source should be built in the room as they’d had to move the lanterns to facilitate widening the pool. On one hand the Shade Lord was a being made of sentient and solidified darkness. On the other though everyone agreed they were odd. So perhaps they would enjoy their bath being well lit, especially since they often had non-void companions. Ultimately the Godseeker decreed that a glass lumafly dome would be put in the ceiling but made with a hatch to put lumaflies in or take them out as the Shade Lord chose. An ingenious solution.
And now finally it was done, awaiting only the Shade Lord’s approval before all the equipment was packed up. Assuming the Godseeker could even convince them to come after how she’d angered them last time – a tale Menderbug hadn’t been told the whole of, only knowing that it ended in their first temple becoming a void puddle. But she’d been insistent she could convince them, leaving him and the rest of the crew that had spent the past few months working on this to wait. And pace in Menderbug’s case.
Nervous wasn’t an emotion he felt often but it was hard not to be nervous when trying to please a god. Even if his prior dealings with them had all been pleasant and indicated they were quite easy going most of the time. That only made him wish to please them more though. And thus he continued pacing, his thoughts circling around the enlarged hot spring and the Shade Lord. Until finally at long, long last first the Godseeker strode in through the doorway – also enlarged to easily allow the Shade Lord to enter – followed by the Shade Lord. Their expression was unreadable but they paused just past the doorway to look around and take in the room.
“For thee,” the Godseeker declared loudly, “and whomever thee deem worthy to share this space with. We do not dare assume this atones for our earlier transgression in attempting to gain your attention but nonetheless we hope thou art pleased by it.”
Without a word in reply, the Shade Lord slid over and into the water. While the door had been sized only to accommodate for what seemed to be their smallest form, the pool was much deeper and wider, allowing them to expand. Which they did until they were taking up more than half the available space. They made a low humming noise that sounded pleased to Menderbug’s ear. “I like this. Thank you.”
A cheer rose up among the void acolytes. Finally at long last they had gained their long sought after god’s approval. How long that would last was impossible to say but it hardly mattered right now. Perhaps Menderbug would take them up on their offer to join them, he did quite like the Shade Lord after all.

It has not been long since the reunion between the twins, and Aether seemed melancholic throughout your journey back to Liyue. It was to be expected, really. You knew it all along, yet you didn’t bother to tell him. It was quite easy to figure out, actually, yet you do not want to add on to the suspicion brought upon you. You don’t bother to confront him after that, not wanting to make any mistakes during your conversation with him. Completely blocking Paimon and Aether’s discussions, your eyes fixated themselves on the sleeping Chuuya on your shoulder.
He has been sleeping a lot, you realized, wiggling a bit on your shoulder, he rested his small head on your neck. You smiled to yourself, he was quite cute. You did not want to venture into Liyue Harbor for multiple reasons, if you were on the watchlist of the Knights, there is no doubt you are on the watchlist of the Millelith. “Hey, [Name],” Paimon’s voice entered your ears, getting your attention. You turned your head carefully so as to not wake the sleeping Chuuya on your shoulder, bored eyes staring at Paimon. “Ah-” she stuttered, “do you… possibly know how to get to Inazuma?” she asked meekly, nervousness coating her features-- she was still afraid of you. Well, after the meeting between the twins, how could she not? You were certainly at the top of her “Do Not Piss Off” list.
Inazuma. A beautiful nation shrouded with darkness and all things far from heavenly. You have heard of the nation, never being able to step inside, so you resort to the wind; it gives you information on anything and everything. The rumors of you and the ballads of the ancient traverse through the winds you depend on for information, and it has not let you down. Chuuya would also eavesdrop on others for information, his short stature giving an advantage. He would keep the information for himself, for angry squeaks are the only thing that leaves his tiny mouth.
So, no, you do not know how to get there. You may hold the fate of the world in your hands, able to make even the strongest of archons bow at your feet by a simple wave of your hand. Veins pumping with the blood of another world, and another world is where you reign and have died. This world is merely but a fleeting one, you assumed, and while you may have unimaginable battle prowess and an equally indestructible and flawless ability, you simply do not care. Who are you to care about a world which has no meaning to you? You belong here, yet you don’t have an obligation to protect it. Even the archons-- the so-called “protectors” of Teyvat, had destroyed a nation made by mortal hands.
The gods here were as selfish as the ones you have read before you’ve ever come here. Your life was held in another, chained, captive in another's hands. And even though you were free by being released-- reincarnated in another world (you can’t say another life; you know it’s a continuation of your previous one, how stupid), you know you were bound to experience the selfishness of the gods, those replicating what you have seen in mortals. “No, I don’t.” You sighed, looking back at the sea. The sea has always been a peaceful place, an abyss with numerous undiscovered creatures residing in it. “There must be someone you know..” You trailed off, still focusing on the scenery before you. Unsurprisingly, Paimon snapped Aether out of his reverie and called out his name. “Oh. Let me try and think of someone…” Aether began to think, but Paimon interrupted his train of thought before he could form a name. “Paimon’s thought of someone already -- Atsuko, in Liyue Harbor! She’s from Inazuma!” Paimon exclaimed, waving her tiny arms in the air, ushering both you and Aether to Liyue Harbor, yet you were quick to decline her offer. Dismissing her invitation, you waved your hand, and said, “No, No. People wouldn’t want to see someone like me venturing with the bigshot of Teyvat.” You said, a slight tease coated in your tone.
The traveling duo had to think about your words, you were right-- in a sense, yet they did not want to leave you alone. (they were completely disregarding the existence of a Chuuya-fied wisp sleeping soundly on your shoulder.) “Aww!” Paimon whined, “Paimon wanted [Name] to come with us!” Aether simply laughed, and nodded his head, standing up. “Well, if we find a way to get there, you will join us, alright?” He asked you, but it didn’t seem like a question, it was a demand, really. Deadpanning, you nodded your head, assuring that you will, in fact, travel with them after consulting Atsuko.
You lowered your presence before venturing to the foot of Liyue, trying to conceal yourself from wandering eyes. Aether and Paimon were barely in your peripheral vision and trying to hear their conversation with the Inazuma citizen was even harder. As if on cue, Chuuya squeaked, trying to get your attention, and you faced the tiny wisp who twirled around the air, orange particles following suit. “Ah, you want to eavesdrop?” you questioned, trying to understand his body movements. A little nod with a squeak of approval was what you received in return, and you allowed him to do so. You may not understand his body movements most of the time-- but hey, you try. The wisp navigates its way to where Paimon and Aether were, making sure that he was unseen and unnoticed by the passerby. Thankfully, though, he was.
After a bit of eavesdropping, he returned back to you, and you ultimately did not get what he meant, until he gestured-- with his head-- the direction of Guyun Stone Forest. You could only assume that much. Shortly after, Paimon and Aether returned to you both, and you turned to face them, awaiting their statement. “Uh- alright,” Paimon started, unable to look you in the eye. You found her nervousness quite hilarious, your mouth forming a smirk in amusement. Despite being small, yet wasn’t hesitant to voice out anything on her mind, was afraid of a mere human like you. “Atsuko told us that we must meet with the .. Crux.” The Crux, you have heard tell of their captain and their victories. How could you not? The strange relationship between the Tianquan and the captain was being spread throughout Liyue, including their many stories in the sea. The reputation The Crux has gotten for their many bone-chilling and jaw-dropping experiences was enough to make you interested. “Continue,” You replied, eyes analytical, boring into poor Paimon’s eyes. She shrieked, and silently pleaded to Aether to continue where she left off.
Chuuya, on the other hand, was snickering mentally, not only because of Paimon’s cowardice but also because of Aether’s hesitance to respond. He opted to let out squeaks that resembled laughter. Paimon jerked her head to the wisp, comical steam escaping her ears. “Stop laughing, you orange dwarf!” She stomped her legs, and you had to hold back your laughter. Aether cleared his throat, and Paimon halted her actions. “We must find Captain Beidou, the leader of the Crux.” He said calmly, and you nodded your head. Chuuya was sulking on your shoulder, forming a little ball. How cute, you think, and stood up to follow Paimon and Aether to their destination.
Guyun Stone Forest. An infamous landmark created by the spears of the Lord of Geo, known to hold an ancient god, Osial, one you were most familiar with after the battle that forced him to retreat yet again. Guyun Stone Forest was known to house the Hypostasis that you severely resented, as well as other monsters of each variety. It was a place created by a god, and it houses an ancient one-- waiting to awaken yet again. Some say that if you come by at night, you would experience the bloodshed and the defeat of Osial vividly, memories of the god experiencing his demise would flash through your head like a slideshow.
Soon enough, you both were able to board the Crux without unnecessary mishaps, you trailing behind Aether and Paimon, your presence still unnoticed by the rest of the crew. Chuuya was settled atop your head, seldomly wiggling to find a place to relax. He was still awake, though, that was enough. Aether’s footsteps alerted Beidou, who was currently talking to an unknown stranger you have never seen before, and it seems like Aether was unfamiliar with him, too.
“Hmm? Who’ve we got here…” Beidou turned to face Aether, and you moved to the side, out of Beidou’s peripheral vision. A flash of realization took over the captain’s features, and said, “Wait, I know you. You’re that traveler, Aether, aren’t you?” She questioned, “The one who fought against the Fatui and Osial, right?” She added. Aether blinked, processing her words. Yeah, he did all those, and it should be a given that his achievements were recognized, but a look of confusion would tell you otherwise. “Have we met?” He asked in response. He was a busy man, accepting commissions from complete strangers in both nations without hesitation, and they might remember him, but do not expect this man to remember you-- at all. He chooses not to remember irrelevant people.
Their conversation was not yours to mind, instead, looking out to sea. It was far more interesting than what you’re hearing, all too familiar with what they’re talking about. Feeling a pair of eyes on you, you shrugged it off, too immersed in the beauty of the sea in front of you. Beidou’s loud voice boomed, entering your ears, which snapped you out of your thoughts. “Judging by the clothes on your back and this floating thing-- and you! Another companion, perhaps?” Before Paimon could talk back to the captain, her eyes followed Beidou’s finger, which was pointing to you.
You stared back at them, your eyes swirling with amusement and recognition. “Hi.” you greeted, you were not one for formal greetings. “[Name], traveling partner--” Beidou’s voice interrupted you before you could finish, “aren’t you the suspicious fellow the Millelith was to keep track of?” Ah. So she knows. Who wouldn’t, really? Your supposed title along with Aether’s name being spread throughout Teyvat, one outshining the other. You were feared, unlike Aether, who was respected throughout the continent, yet you were one who they would want to avoid-- to show you who you need to respect. Although that didn’t bother you, it certainly irritated Paimon and Aether.
“They’re my traveling companion-- my friend.” Aether emphasized the word ‘friend’, making you smile fondly at the boy. Paimon nodded vigorously, and Beidou let it slide, albeit hesitant in doing so. “I’ll let it slide, for now.” She monotonously said, eyeing you and Aether, “but if you do something sketchy, I won’t hesitate to do something to you.” She threatened, making Paimon yelp and hide behind Aether, while you smirked in amusement. “A deal’s a deal, captain.” You muttered, turning your back on her to face the scenery you were focusing on. “And by the way, Paimon’s not ‘floating thing,’ it’s Paimon!” She said, shouting each vowel of her name.
“Paimon… hmm..” Those words that belonged to a foreign voice caught everyone’s attention-- excluding Chuuya’s, who was too entertained by the floating particles around his body-- to turn to said man. “What a fascinating being. You two give off not only the essence of wind and earth,” He paused, “but also of… yes… the stars…” He concluded. You blinked, “Eh? The fragrance of what now?” Paimon questioned, confusion lacing her tone, “That’s the weirdest compliment Paimon’s ever heard.” She muttered, and the mysterious man turned to you. “But you… you give off the essence of the stars, and the aura of the divine.” He stated, while you turned to him, and said, “Is that an insult?” You voiced out, while he merely chuckled and shook his head. “Pay it no heed… I mean only to say I am certain… that it is by fate, not chance alone, that we should meet… and that gives our encounter meaning.”
You couldn’t bother to listen to their conversation, for you were not included. Yet you managed to catch his name, Kaedehara Kazuha. Upon studying his appearance more, you realized that he was not local. The frame around his vision confirmed your assumptions, and you could only wonder what that frame came from. Where he came from, exactly. There was an oddly calming and melancholic aura emanating from the man behind you, and it may look like he was aware of it, too. The group exchanged words relating to something about a Crux Clash, something you have never heard of before. Leaning forward to the railings, you let Chuuya sit on your shoulder while nuzzling his face on your neck. Sleepy, he was, all the time. Though that didn’t bother you, really.
“Does your friend over there have some experience in fighting?” I think they do, considering their unusually suspicious yet powerful aura, Beidou wanted to add, yet she refused those words to slip past her tongue. Aether knew you never wanted to be put in the spotlight, to be the center of attraction even for a few minutes, all of those things irked you. Even though you were the center of attraction back in your past life-- for all the right reasons, you don’t want it to happen again. Tranquility is what you desire. You were offered the curse of the gods and the blessing of death, yet tranquility is what truly made you feel human amidst everything else.
Everything passes, tranquility doesn’t. “They would probably decline if you asked them.” He said, it was the truth, really. “They’re not one for formal events,” He trailed off, running out of reasons for vouching for you. You were a mysterious individual, and while you have been their traveling companion for quite some time, you still left lingering questions on your trail. Curiosity swirling in his eyes whenever he manages to take a good look at you, wondering what you are-- who exactly you were. Perhaps being mysterious came with good looks. “Oh? Is that so?” She quirked an eyebrow and glanced at your figure before tearing her gaze back to the traveler. “Yeah, they're a tough one!” Paimon exclaimed, “They don’t fight unless necessary!” Paimon then added, recalling your previous statements to the pixie. You were ruthless and merciless in battle, cunning in strategy, resorting to being the brains between the duo. That doesn’t excuse your methodical and malicious way of swerving through the situation, however.
“I’m not interested.” Your sharp voice cuts through the conversation, dismissing every thought the wandering samurai and the captain may have had. Still facing the sea, elbows on the railings of the ship. “You, too, are not interested in the masterless vision?” Kazuha asked, and you nodded. “I am only interested in following Aether.” You uttered nonchalantly, and a blush rose to Aether’s cheeks, quickly faltering. “Well, it seems like the traveler will only be partaking in the event. Let’s get you signed up, yeah?” she questioned, “Head to the tournament arena in Guyun Stone Forest. Kazuha and I will be over soon.” She smiled, clasping her hands together. Before anyone could say anything else, you disappeared. (poof! You’re gone, and honestly, it’s a surprise that no one noticed Chuuya, at all.)
Beidou turned to look at you, yet you were gone. All that was left was a little wisp with orange particles surrounding its body. It seemed to be looking around frantically, beady eyes locking with ruby-colored ones. It blinked, and it disappeared as soon as they made eye contact. Was that [Name]? The captain blinked and shrugged her shoulders. It would be an understatement to say that both of them were confused, they genuinely thought that you turned into a wisp. Kazuha’s face remained neutral, yet there was a lingering swirl of amusement in those vermillion hues of his. “Well, well. It seems like it will only be a matter of time before the answer is revealed.” (AWOOOOAOAOAOAO WOOOF WOOF. anyway.)
You didn’t want to be noticed by the Liyue participants, having been popular on the list of suspicious individuals. You knew that if they saw you, even if it was just a glimpse, they would panic. So, what was the best option? Well-- hide, obviously. You were sat atop one of the spears, right above the reception area. The endless praises coming from the other competitors soon reached your ears, but that didn’t make you interested. They have only witnessed him in his power, but were they able to walk alongside him? You didn’t think so, besides, they’re but mere specks of dust in his house of memories. You crossed your legs, blocking out any sounds entering your ears. That is until a familiar squeak is what you heard. Looking to your left, you saw a visibly furious wisp. When you landed your eyes on him, he started smacking your head as if he was scolding you-- well, he was. In his tiny little head, he was cursing you out, and he had embarrassed himself in front of two complete strangers. You laughed, not quite loud, and gently encased your hands on his tiny body. He slept after that.
You only watched some of Aether’s matches before you appeared-- out of nowhere-- behind Beidou and Kazuha. The samurai noticed your peculiar presence the second you got there, really, you had a very, very unique scent. He would describe it as flowers-- laid out in a field, wilting ever so slowly. An enigma that presents itself as a gentle soul, malicious in movement and methodical if necessary. You had eyes that resembled that of a certain archon he grew to despise, yet he failed to sense any correlation between the two of you. If he had, though, he would be utterly speechless that you haven’t stolen him away, yet. You presented yourself as swift in movement and uninterested in talking, although he noticed a playful side that you only revealed to Aether. He now realized that you weren’t the wisp that disappeared after a few double takes, situated on your shoulder. Even that small wisp radiated the same aura that you did.
Just who were you? Kazuha couldn’t decipher you that much, he thinks he has only so little information about you, and he was right. You were a black and white canvas, one who presents themselves as plain, quiet, yet you were familiar with all emotions at once. The ability to be stoic and to have separate personalities were one of your most prominent features, being able to lure your target into a seemingly well-made trap. Your eyes were closed, listening to the waves meeting the sand, oh, how you missed that sound.
The waves crashing never failed to land a small smile on your face, unnoticed by many, tranquility was the only word you would describe the sounds the oceans make. Calming, it was. Beidou’s laugh entered your ears, “I knew I wouldn’t regret choosing you as the favourite!” You opened your eyes slightly, directing your sharp eyes to Aether and Paimon. “So what do you think, Kazuha? [Name]? He totally dominated that guy, and did it with style, too!” She said, visible pride laced within her words. To be fair, you were proud of Aether as well, but your pride was overshadowed by nonchalance. “Impressive,” Kazuha praised, “But I also observed our favorite exercise some restraint, as if to protect the opponent from harm.” He added, and paused, turning to look at you. “Ah,” you uttered, “Good work, Aether.” you were simple, Aether knew that, yet you never praised him verbally, resorting to ruffling his hair. It did not fail to make him smile, though. Paimon smiled brightly, for that was the first time she heard those words slip past your lips. You smiled gently, genuinely, and whispered, “I know you will win.”
Paimon was ready to cry then and there. Comical tears run down her face, hugging you from the neck, “Paimon didn’t know you could be so nice!” Her voice was shaky, yet you laughed in faux offense and Aether smiled, and whispered a ‘thank you', in response. Beidou laughed heartily, and Kazuha crossed his arms with a small smirk. So not only were you playful, you had a soft spot for Aether! Lovers, perhaps? Softly chuckling, you leaned back to the stone behind you, letting your eyelids rest. As the wind kissed your face you were vaguely reminded of the man beside you, yet you made no intent to look at him. You were only brought back to reality when Beidou told Aether that he would be put in the semi-finals, and you nodded in agreement. Aether smiled, his eyes forming crescents, and sent you a thumbs up in return.
After quite a long wait, it was time for the semi-finals. After some words from Kazuha and the announcement from Beidou, you patted Aether’s back gently and gave him a look that said ‘you can do this’. Well, needless to say, he was quite hyped after that exchange. Chuuya squeaked from beside you, and you let him start floating on your shoulder. This attracted Kazuha’s attention, “What’s that?” He asked, the words spilling out of his mouth before he could ever give it a thought. Chuuya and you side-eyed him, and said, “ah. This little guy?” You pointed to Chuuya, and it seemed angered at your comment. “This guy’s Nakahara. A… memoir of a... friend, in short.” Said wisp halted its actions, although it didn’t go unnoticed by both of you. “Hm, fascinating. You two carry the same aura.” You remained silent for the most part, yet a simple sigh escaped your lips. “Hm, do we?” You muttered, softly patting the wisp’s head with your pointer finger. It seemed delighted, unconsciously leaning to your touch. “Perhaps we do,” you whispered, knowing the truth behind this small wisp below your finger. “Do you… perhaps… have some history with this creature?” He asked, curiosity and attentiveness evident in his wine-colored eyes. You paused for a moment, thinking of your words. “Well, if you phrase it like that, then… sort of, yeah.” He nodded after your confirmation, yet your answers only made him insatiable; there were still so many questions he’d want to ask you, yet he knows you won’t provide for the insatiable. You never do.
After the match, you observed Aether ask other people for information about his final opponent. You weren’t bothered to watch the matches that didn’t involve him, however, entertaining Chuuya in the process whenever he wasn’t on the battlefield. But from the observations of Beidou and Kazuha, you were able to identify that seemingly suspicious man. Your intuition was never wrong, of course. He was described to be agile, swift, and seemingly formidable in battle. Well, you would be lying if he doesn’t remind you of someone you were previously acquainted with. “Wah! Paimon is starting to think that [Name] here is our final opponent!” You blinked, dismissing Paimon’s words. “Eh? No, no, no.” You shook your head, “what makes you think that?” you asked, and Paimon scratched her head, “eh… you are fast as well! Fast on your feet! Strong too! You and our opponent are far too similar!” Paimon complained, stomping her feet in the air like a child. “Now that’s just… insulting.” You muttered, and Kazuha chuckled. “Oh? How so?” He queried. You shook your head, “I would prefer to keep my prideful remarks to myself.” and Chuuya shook his head vigorously, denouncing your statement, squeaking in retaliation. Beidou’s voice cut through your conversation, stirring the topic into the final battle.
You, again, did not bother to listen, closing your eyes until someone catches your attention. Words were exchanged between the 3 elemental wielders, and the voice that snaps you out of your reverie was none other than Aether’s, “Can [Name] come too?” You snapped your eyes open, staring at Aether, waiting for him to continue. When he didn’t, you spoke up, “Where, exactly?” Paimon cut through the discussion, “With Kazuha!” and a flash of realization flooded her features, “Wait, Aether, why do you want them to come exactly?” Her voice was laced with a slight tease, and a sly smile formed on her lips, making Aether pinch her cheeks and stick his tongue out when he heard her whine. Beidou did not want to interrupt, but you know what kind of thoughts are forming on the captain’s mind. Something about “are they together?” Well, something like that. Kazuha, on the other hand, never once failed to show amusement during their exchanges, especially when the topic is about you. “Well, that’s settled, come with me. Some post-match entertainment is in order.”
What you didn’t expect is that he’d completely focus on Aether in the secluded place he led you both to. “Now that we’re alone, let me cut to the heart of the matter.” He began, he eyed Aether, then to your still, peaceful figure. Seemed like Chuuya was sleeping, once again. “Traveler, you are skilled in manipulating the elements.” He began, and that is when you snapped your eyes to Kazuha, fully invested in the conversation as if you weren’t resting your eyes ten seconds ago. Kazuha brushed off your intense gaze on him, and continued, “And not just a single element, but multiple, is that correct?” You weren’t shocked, no. You witnessed it firsthand, and all the subtle attempts to cover up Aether’s otherworldly ability were futile when it came to you. Besides, you were capable of revealing even the smallest details.
“Although I cannot make sure of [Name], while yours were not as subtle as you presume, they give me an unfamiliar aura. One I cannot discern,” He uttered, turning to face and making eye contact with you. “Now, then, may I be so bold to inquire just what power you hold?” Despite the soft tone he presented you with, you still denied it. I do not have such power as you may think I do.” You shut down his question, “I may hold the aura of the gods, but I do not have any affiliation with them.” You said sternly, hoping that he would dismiss this subject, and swallow up your lies. If anyone knew about your ability and the status you had compared to the gods above, including Chuuya’s, everyone would be against you. The sheer power you hold in your body surpasses that of bygone gods and wandering travelers. You were an unstable yet powerful force, never truly revealing your plans, and never using the ability you were cursed to use again. You never used it to spite the gods who have cursed you in the world you know you will never fit in. You were anything but human in this world of selfish souls, well, you know who would agree with you. (you know Fyodor would have a field day if he was here.)
Although you remained composed and stoic, you silently wished Kazuha would let you slip past his questions. He was, obviously, completely oblivious to your thoughts. Kazuha wasn’t oblivious about your power, though, you knew he knew that you have one. After that exchange, you completely retracted yourself from the conversation, simply observing the two who discussed Aether’s powers and skills. You didn’t miss the slight concern that Paimon held towards you, though. You didn’t like talking; to strangers, especially. Save for your interrogation victims back in the day, in meetings, you usually butt in when necessary, or riling up the boss and Chuuya whenever you felt like doing so. The only relevant thing to come out of the conversation you listened to was everything relating to Inazuma. Ah, so that’s where he came from. No wonder the frame encasing his vision looked foreign to you. You briefly made eye contact with Kazuha, and you recognized that look in his eyes. As if he was still wary of you, and your motives.
Truth is, he was completely intrigued because of you. Still wary-- yet enamored. He knows you are observant, calculating, and seemingly notorious due to all of these traits, including your intimidating appearance. You carry yourself with utmost royalty, independent in all situations, and overpowering most of your enemies with ease. He could tell by your scent that you were one to be avoided, and one who is more powerful than most vision wielders-- scratch that, maybe all. Although that would be an overstatement to some, he just has this feeling that you are stronger than you present yourself as. That was true, obviously. What is a mysterious person without their secrets? He secretly hoped he did not give you a bad impression, for you were a mysterious one who attracts even the wisest of men. He’ll make sure to ask Aether about you, even if it’s just the simplest of information. He was certain that he hears all things in nature, yet you were one who grew in a field of foreign flowers. That, he cannot decipher.

I recently discovered your blog, and I have an idea for a request! So, say that both Mondstadt and Liyue both hold a festival together or an event. Both Xinyan and Barbara are going to perform and the reader is going to help them. By like providing vocals or just helping them perform in general. A couple of days before the big day happens there's a note from the treasure hoarders (you can change it to something else like the Abyss Mages or something if that's easier for you) claiming they're going to take Barbara. Everyone just shoves it off to the side and then behind the scenes crew doesn't tell anyone so they don't cause panic for people. Especially since it's going to be a large crowd since both people from Liyue and Mondstadt. During the performance, while on stage the reader sees an arrow heading towards Barbara, and to prevent it from hitting her they casually push Barbara but it looks like a hug so people don't notice it. The reader is soon leaves the performance so they can catch the person who tried shooting Barbara. Their S/O (your character of choice) chases after them since they don't know where they're going and since they left the performance very early. Could you perhaps write their reactions to what the reader did? Like leaving the performance early and trying to catch up with them as they see them running somewhere? Feel free to change any of the details if you need to! This might not make that much sense so sorry about that. You could also choose any character since I'm not picky. Thanks in advance, and can I become 🌊 Anon? ^^
so sorry this is so late 🌊 anon!! things have been super busy - hope you still like it tho <3
THIS SCENARIO IS SO SPECIFIC I LOVE IT
reqs: open!
gn! reader
characters included: diluc, kaeya, xiao, and ningguang
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you loaded up the last batch of qingxin flowers in your basket. god, you hoped this was enough for barbara to finish her performance with. the idea to conduct a festival with xinyan and barbara as the main performers was one coined by jean. she believed that it might help boost peoples spirits - especially after the havoc dvalin left behind. the suggestion to include liyue in the celebrations however, was all venti’s doing. after hearing the state liyue was in with the supposed death of their archon, the bard decided that liyue could partake in the fun as well, a win for both nations. the first combined liyustadt festival and hopefully, not the last. to others, perhaps the stiffness in your posture, the sheen of sweat on your hands, or the crease between your brow could be attributed to the stress of planning such an event. after all, this had never been done before. however, your stress was on something else entirely. the note the treasure hoarders had threatened barbara with weighed heavily on your mind. the threat detailed that they would attack if the show went on, yet nothing had happened and while precautions were made, you still couldn’t shake the pit in your stomach. you were taken out of your reverie as xinyan beckoned you on stage with the opening of the curtains in the back. putting on a sweet smile you waved to the crowd as they roared, the hero of mondtadt and liyue was in front of them after all. handing the delicate basket to barbara, you turned to make your way off the stage, before you felt chills up your spine.
there.
the whizzing sound of bark slipped crisply through the air as you quickly made to gently push barbara away from the arrow’s path. the quizzical look on the young idol’s face was immediately conformed into fear as she heard the dull thud of the arrow hitting the back wall. flashing the crowd a smile, you gave her a reassuring look before rushing off the stage in your best, nothing-is-wrong walk. gathering your travel sack and weaponry, you quickly darted off into the woods, determined to catch the culprit. unbeknownst to you however, a pair of eyes had already followed your movements and was making their way towards you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
diluc
“love, where are you going?”
long legs quickened their pace as diluc found his words met with silence. your figure was rapidly disappearing among the trees as he raced after you with questions blowing through his mind. you had your weapons and travel sack, all things you didn’t have on you during the performance, he noted. he was aware something must have been detrimentally wrong if you were to take off in the middle of a performance where you were an honored guest. you would have informed someone beforehand if something was terribly urgent so why were you running like your life depended on it?
it was only a matter of time before diluc caught up to you, however he didn’t stop you. he kept up with your strides as he inquired as to what was wrong.
with your response, it would only strengthen his resolve to help you, not that he was ever planning on doing anything other than that. he slipped the weight of your travel sack on his shoulders before moving ahead.
“treasure hoarders you say? follow me darling, there’s only one place with enough tree coverage to launch an arrow straight into the performance”
kaeya
“woah, in a hurry now aren't we?”
a lazy smirk dripped over his lips as mischief burned in his eyes. now where were you going so fast?
kaeya didn’t have to run, he knew how to track. it also helped that he knew these woods like the back of his hand from the amount of dealings he’s made here. at first, he had assumed you were just running an errand, considering he had only briefly caught sight of your figure rushing through the trees. as he gets closer however, the mischief burns away into confusion, and then seriousness. why...were you wearing your gloves? wasn’t this just a trip to get more flowers? he’ll start to speed up after realizing the weight of the situation. as his feet catch up to yours he’ll place an arm on your bicep, slowing you down slightly.
“something’s wrong, i assume? give me the ten second version”
as soon as he hears your recap, he’ll shoot off in a side path. you stared at him with widened eyes as he took you further into the thick of leaves. his fingers tangled in yours before he offered a quiet, “do you trust me?”
you did.
xiao
“i’ve told you, if you ever require my service, speak my name”
xiao had immediately rushed to where you were in a blink of an eye. he had known something was wrong from the moment he could sense a change in your energy, the connection between you was too strong after all. without sparing another second, he flew to where you were, mindful as to not startle you. tangling his pinky with yours, he stopped you completely.
“i know who did it. there is no need for you to go.”
the confusion on your face must have betrayed you as he quickly explained that he had seen the arrow make it’s way towards barbara before you pushed her out of the way. he had already tracked where the culprit was and planned to take them out himself. so as a result, there was no need for you to put yourself in harm’s way.
the way your eyes softened when you lightly put your hands on his cheeks confused him. why weren’t you going back?
“xiao we talked about this. i can take care of myself, you don’t need to protect me”
your affectionate voice made his hands come up to his cheeks to clasp your own.
“i know, but humans are just so fragile...”
his voice trailed off and you brought your hands down to link your pinkies with his again.
“i’ll always be here, don’t worry”
he knew that one day you wouldn’t be, it was the tragedy of mortal life after all. but as he let you take him through the forest, weapons in hand, he thought maybe it wasn’t so bad to let you take the lead for once.
ningguang
“you can stop, i’ve already sent the millelith to deal with them”
your pace slowed to a halt as her words hit your ears. keqing had already let her know of the threat when the millelith had reported suspicious individuals. the tianquan had made a mental note before telling a handful of her guards to stay alert in case she needed to send them in. when she saw the arrow hit the backboard, a silent flick of her wrist sent the guards dispersing through the crowd, ready to apprehend the foes.
you sighed, sometimes you wished she would tell you these things beforehand.
your urge to talk back died as soon as you met her eyes. the affection in them as she raised her hand out to you was a rare sight for others, but a common one behind closed doors for you. a small smile appeared on your lips as she pulled you close to her, slipping a qingxin flower in your hair.
“why don’t we watch the rest of the performance hmm?”

You'll never lose me - Prompt - Elya
[Post Ascendance's events]
Your vision is blurred.
Your hands shake as you desperately wipe the tears away in an attempt to see clearly again.
With each tear you manage to get out of the way, you secretly wish the scene happening before you would miraculously change before you lay eyes on it once more.
It doesn't, of course. Life isn't lenient enough to allow that.
- Why did you do that? - You ask, but you know the answer. Still, you utter those words as if they could revert the past few hours, as if your voice still had any power in its meager, choked state.
Elya's skin is covered in several black spots of necrosis. They spread through his body in every direction, slowly and consistently.
His blue eyes gradually assume a brownish-yellow tone that would look horrendous did they not still rest on your face bearing such crude love.
He manages a smile. You never understand how in these situations, but he always does.
- I couldn't let them take you, not as that - He murmurs, forcefully.
You stare at the incredibly clean area around you.
Earlier, beings of filthy souls attacked your crew of simple, unarmed diplomats. You only wanted to help bring peace to their world.
However, due to a slight miscalculation of their evolutionary stage, you arrived too early.
They still considered war to be too profitable to let go.
All of your colleagues are now dead, but Elya managed to save you in an act of last resort.
While his love shielded you physically, his raw, channeled essence obliterated anything within a 100km radius.
It was effective but, nature, wise mother, always comes to take what's rightfully hers. Nothing can alter the balance of the universe.
One who makes rot, must rot.
Elya stands up clumsily and you support his body. The necrosed skin advancing ruthlessly.
- Take me there, please - He mumbles, pointing to a clean spot next to a cliff.
As you make your way there, Elya hugs you sideways, trying to comfort you despite all circumstances. That tender touch, though well-intentioned, only fragments you further.
You sit in a somewhat comfortable position, facing the horizon and the abyss below you, holding each other.
The atmosphere of planet J-7531 reflects deep turquoise even when the sun is setting. It's a lovely blue sky, but you can only see it reflected in Elya's ill-looking, now fully yellow eyes. A bitter irony.
You hug him tighter while he watches the sunset peacefully.
The pain you feel twists your guts. It makes you agonize inside so intensely you want to scream your lungs out but, oddly, all you can manage to do is whisper...
"I can't bear to lose you"
Elya turns to look at you gently. The dead, dark skin now covers his whole torso, arms, and legs.
He completely leans against you, unfortunately, without a choice this time.
- You'll never lose me... We'll always find each other - He says faintly, and thick tears slide from his eyes and land delicately on your left shoulder.
The knot in your throat becomes unbearable, you bury your face on his neck as if you could somehow transfer some of your own life to him.
- How long will it take until I see you again? - You find it in yourself to ask, and you know it's the last time you'll be able to produce any coherent sound for a while.
When Elya mutters his response, the world around you grows deaf.
Bile reflux invades your throat and you feel like you'll vomit, but you hold it back.
You know you can't ask him to elaborate when his whole body becomes dark. The soft movement of his chest stops, the bright glowing of his eyes fades.
The sun finally sets and darkness engulfs your surroundings as if the universe too was mourning the loss of Elya.
The greatest Diplomat. Your greatest love.
When the aid of The Y finally arrives, you're still locked with the body of your loved one, now almost completely deformed.
You still can't hear anything when people try to talk to you, be it trying to evaluate your physical state or to understand what happened to your crew.
The only sound your mind replays non-stop, cruelly, is that of the last words you heard in the voice you cherished most in the world.
If Elya could choose, you know those words would've been loving, or soothing. But that was him, and all he could do was be thoroughly honest with you, as always.
"I don't know, my love"

" YOU'RE SICKENING! "
━━ ☆ PAIRING: beidou/fem!reader
━━ ☆ GENRE: humor
━━ ☆ SUMMARY: being kidnapped is not on your to-do list.
━━ ☆ WARNINGS: horrible humor, little to no plot at all
maybe you should heed the warnings of your forefathers better next time. true, the realization might've come a little too late but at least it came right?
"how's it going over there?"
you would reply with a snarky comment but they tied you up, gagged you, and blindfolded you like a bunch of hooligans.
"oops, sorry. didn't see that," the woman who you assume to be the captain untied your nuzzle and like a completely sane person in a very traumatic situation:
"i swear to rex lapis i would bite your nose off and every single one of your descendants—"
"nope, back you go."
"wait! don't— hmph!"
a doe right before the eyes of a lion whose sharp fangs are glistening with the desire to feast or perhaps, a pig awaiting its demise: a destiny of bloodbath in slaughter. that was how you felt. weak and irrelevant— a pathetic damsel in distress. this day was going just great.
if someone told you just a few hours ago that you would be kidnapped by a bunch of unruly pirates and forcibly sat down in a ship that was reeking of uncooked seafood then you would have laughed and ordered an arrest for the said lunatic. after all, who would think that taking away one of the most influential women in liyue was a smart idea? no one, that is, no one sane enough.
well... if no one here is sane then...
"listen missie, if you would just behave—"
why should you be?
maybe not a doe or a pig but instead, a tiny, rabid dog that was biting and clawing whatever moved across her sight maybe even a gorilla with nothing left to lose as she lets out a thunderous warcry before wasting destruction upon her crew, beidou thought in amusement as she watched the whole scene unfold in front of her eyes.
"alright that's enough," you flashed her a glare and beidou almost cooed at how adorably terrifying you looked, "we don't have any ill intentions."
"i'm pretty sure everyone knows that kidnapping is illegal and punishable under the law instilled upon the—"
"you know... you talk a lot, don't you?"
"i know right. one time i got ningguang to shove a whole dumpling in my mouth just so i would shut up. wait... you're trying to change the subject! just so you know, i am—"
"we all know who you are. that's why you're here." with a small nod from beidou, her crew warily undid your restraints, and much to their relief, you sat still.
"what? so you could ask for a ransom or so you could interrogate me for some top-secret treasure?"
"nah," you hesitantly took the cup beidou was offering you in fear she’ll shove it down your throat if you didn’t, "so you could listen."
"listen?"
"you know... when you give your attention to someone who's speaking—"
"you—! i know what 'listen' means!"
beidou smiled, condescendingly if you may add, "good for you."
"you know what? i've had enough. i'm done with this. this mess is sickening, you're sickening!"
in hindsight, suddenly storming off your kidnapper was not a good idea. and neither is attempting to jump off a ship you probably should've known was sailing on the sea.
"ah, i wouldn't do that if i were you—"
"holy archons and their butts—!"
and you definitely didn't just pathetically slip on nothing, almost falling to the wide waiting mouth of an unknown sea creature. perhaps an apology and a thank-you would be due for that one crew mate who managed to grab you by the hem of your dress.
"hey, don't say i didn't warn you ‘cause i did," beidou managed to let out in between her unnecessarily loud chuckles.
the cheeky little—!
"and a little help would be much appreciated!"
"no thanks. i quite... like the view."
the fiery demons of the abyss are nothing to the flaming red that spread across your cheeks like wildfire.
"stop looking at my ass, captain!"
with a barely hidden smirk, beidou heaved your body back on board, her strong, muscled arm holding you securely by your waist, effectively pressing your body impossibly close to hers. perhaps it was her awfully strong presence or maybe her annoyingly charming demeanor— either way your heart fluttered by just a fraction but it was gone as soon as it came.
"y-you can release me now."
beidou rose an unassuming brow, "you sure? you look a little pale."
"i'm fine!" she rose her hands in surprise, your suddenly sharp, and dare she say, defensive, tone startling everyone in the near vicinity.
oops. you winced before feigning composure.
"you can say whatever you want to say. i'll be listening until the next port comes."
"what makes you think we'd comply with that?"
"i'm going to sue you, you insolent—"
"kidding, kidding."
you watched as beidou's smile suddenly dropped, the air around her switching to a much more serious one and you would be lying if you said that it wasn't at least a bit frightening.
"now, about those tax reforms..."
you didn't know what you expected but it's certainly not talking about economic policies in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the salty scent of the sea and the distant, booming voices of those aboard the alcor.
"i... understand why you brought me here instead of any other civilized person who would schedule an appointment. of course, i should clarify that my understanding is not justification."
"hmm... it's better than nothing. well, what do you say?"
"shouldn't you be bringing this up with ningguang? i mean, she was the one who proposed the idea."
"that wench would have my head on a silver platter before i could even utter the word 'hi.' i don't even get why she hates me so much!"
"...touche."
you weren't the greatest empath out there but you did understand these people's views. sure, they are unruly and a little beyond human comprehension but ningguang could be quite intolerable when she wanted to. truthfully, you weren't so keen on the idea in the first place but knowing that so many livelihoods would be placed on the line only empowered you to take the chance to turn the tables.
"okay," you clapped your hands definitively, "i'll see what i can do."
"you will?! that's great! i knew we could count on you!"
much to your displeasure, beidou grinned at you brightly, hands finding their way on your shoulders as she lightly rocked you back and forth out of sheer happiness.
"uh sure... just, maybe don't kidnap me... or take me to a ship the next time we meet or shake me like what you’re doing right now."
"hm? why? the air's fresh and nice. the water's calm today. i'd say this is the perfect spot for a memorable first meeting."
uh-oh. it's coming.
"i have motion sickness goddamnit!"
maybe, just maybe, you should apologize for ruining their floor.

All The Luck In The Verse (Simon Tam X Gender-neutral Reader)
Warnings: Inuendos, mentions of moaning, dirty and cute flirting, swearing, mentions of fake medicine and drugs, joking mention of sexual orgy escapade (it's only like a sentence they make as a joke)
Word count ~ 1250
MINORS DO NOT INTERACT!
...
I always thought it was strange how the verse seemed larger when one was with others, back in the early years after the war everyone was still closely knit and everything was within my eyesight, all within reach. Yet after spending years on my own, no matter how far I travel, the abyss feels claustrophobic.
A few hours earlier
*Docked ship ejecting in 3… 2... 1..*
The ship’s warning fell on deaf ears as I focussed on matching the blows dealt by my target and getting the upper hand. I had only been on his ship for twenty minutes before I came face to face with the man before me. Various henchmen had been disposed of easily, but a misstep and the consequential whir of my spurs took surprisingly my target off the table.
Finally grabbing the nape of his neck from behind I thrust his skull forward into the closest surface. Although this did complete my assignment it also meant that part of the bridge’s systems had been smashed, setting off red lights from all around.
*Engines overpowered*
*All power will go offline in 3… 2… 1…*
A silence fell like a blanket to cover my battered being.
In all honesty, if I had chosen a different career or if being a mercenary was more of a social industry, I may not feel this way. So I guess it is all my fault. Then again, what was someone raised to kill meant to do? hand themselves in or retire to the outer worlds? No, I was trained to kill. Not to mention I am fucking great at it.
Or at least I’m alright, cause it's hard to believe a great mercenary would be this close to floating off into space for the rest of eternity.
My wounds, all minor scratches, had been simply dressed within minutes and I soon began walking in search of water. Treading along the halls my metal surroundings echoed my steps and the sounds of my spurs that followed. The only light that remained was that of the flashlight I had taken from a henchman’s suit on my way out of the bridge.
After refilling my flask I wander about the ship, browsing the rooms of my target and his minions; finding a few knives and guns as well as some petty change, nothing too exciting. So I made my own fun, an improvised game of darts.
The next few days were repetitive yet calming enough to push away the thought of this becoming the rest of my life. I would wake up, have breakfast, work out, play darts, have dinner, drink, darts, sleep and repeat.
It was on the fifth day, or so, that I was pulled from a rousing game of darts by the opening of a metallic door. The docking door, to be specific.
Before the door had fully opened I situated myself around the corner from the threshold, barefoot and prepared for a fight. Or be it reavers coming through that door, prepared to spare myself the agony.
“If anyone is alive in there get on your knees and slide your weapons towards the door.” The voice was commanding yet If there was to be a fight I knew I was capable of holding my own. It wasn’t until a softer “I don’t think anyone’s left in there Cap’n (Captain)”
“Kaylee?” I shouted as I made my way towards the door, “Kaylee Frye? What in the verse are you doing out here?”
“Y/n, Is that really you? Everyone said you died on that mission in ‘54”
“Nah, are you kidding? There was already a bounty on my head. I had to run. I assumed everyone back home knew.”
She threw her arms around my shoulders and held me in place tightly,
Once I was free of Kaylee’s clutches I explained the state of the ship and offered Kaylee’s crew the bounty of my target in exchange for a ride to my next job. An offer which a lady by the name of Zoe had accepted before their captain had a chance to open his mouth.
Within minutes of the body being loaded and the ship detaching, Kaylee was pulling me towards the infirmary, muttering endlessly about my reckless nature and my current gory state.
“I’m going to try to find the Doc,” She stated as she gently placed me in the chair that sat alone in the middle of the space. Yet her voice hardened as she commanded “Stay here”.
Barely two minutes had passed before another figure joined me in the room, his eyes were cast towards the floor and he was muttering slowly to himself. He hadn’t noticed my presence yet so I decided to have some fun.
“We are running low on Pennezine, yet we could use a mix of terrozeth and lethozar as a painkiller for the time being so it isn’t too urgent.” He continued to mutter to himself, as he examined the samples on the bench, his back to me, yet only feet away. Turning on my side I face him and confirm;
“Yeah I’d say it works, it’s gotten me out of a few pickles yet it can make one go a bit loopy.” He froze as his eyes shot up to catch my reflection in the glass in front of him. Yet I continued on. “Tripled my bounty as I crashed a poker game, then, still on a buzz, I had some consensual fun with a barful of miscreants.” At the finishing of my story the man I assumed to be the doctor cast his eyes down back towards the desk as a blush flooded his cheeks.
“There you are doc, Can you check my friend over, ain’t exactly the best at staying out of harm's way” Kaylee called as she passed the infirmary doors barely pausing.
“It’s my job Kaylee, I can't exactly avoid it.” I yelled after her and chuckled waiting at the back of my throat.
“Sooo, I’m Doctor Simon Tam, and I assume you are the infamous ‘Psythe’ I’ve heard about in Kaylee’s many tales.”
I jokingly scoff and roll my eyes before firing back, in my most flirtatious voice “Well, you are not exactly an unknown yourself. I remember hearing quite a few people whispering about ‘That cute wanted doctor guy on the news’,” Seeing the blush he had willed down reappearing up his neck I began to mimic; “‘Ooh He could hold me hostage anytime.’ ‘Knife play is overrated, I want to try scalpel play with him.’ ‘ You know he is good with his hands ” I had one more example, okay I hadn't really heard this one but here we go anyway.
I started the next one with a guttural fake moan “‘God, A man like that knows how to mess up your guts no holds barred because he knows how to put you back together again.’”
Without a sound he spun around, roughly grabbing my wrists and pinning them above my head, holding them in place with one hand, his eyes studying every muscle of my face. “Either you are all bark and no bite, in which case you will shut your mouth and I will check over your wounds for the next hour.” He paused, dragging his eyes the length of my form. “Or, you give me the word and the next hour can be put to better use.”
Despite the jelly-like feeling, he sent through my knees I met his eyes
“Oh I do indeed bite”

Send me Spirk prompts
"Captain, I must myself declare much happiness to have found you not married,” Jim’s translator circuit provided, parsing Emperor Ohllak’s words in a somewhat clunky manner. “I, therefore, offer my beloved son's hand in marriage," the monarch exclaimed, motioning to the young prince to his side.
"Oh,” Jim gulped, surprised, “I'm sorry Emperor Ohllak, but I can't accept your offer."
"And why, in our Goddess Kuruna's name, can't you accept? Keep in mind Captain that in the great nation-land of Phnturia, refusing a royal's request is a war crime! I myself do not suppose the Federation would have sent a representative so willing to affront us!"
"Of course not, Ambassador. You see, the thing is... I…” Quick Jim, think of something! “I already have a boyfriend." Shit, not that!
"Boyfriend? You have a male... friend? I do not understand how this impedes you from marrying my Aanya."
"Well, you see...Emperor Ohllak...That is why we've arrived at this misunderstanding.” Fuck, Jim thought, he was only stalling at this point. Sometimes I can’t believe the things that come out of my stupid mouth. “I'm not married. But… I'm also not... single."
"You Captain have an intended?" The prince suggested helpfully, making Jim almost want to kiss him in the mouth.
"Yes! Yes, Aanya. You could say that I have an intended."
"And where is this intended, Captain Kirk? It is a terrible omen to travel without your spouse or spouse-to-be,” the Emperor boomed, shaking his vibrant tentacles vigorously as this species seemed to do when in agitation. “Oh, the great nation-land of Phnturia does not wish to form relations with beings of bad fortune!"
"Well, h-he—" Yeah, Jim, you dumbass, where is your imaginary fantastical boyfriend—
"He is right here.” Jim immediately knew whose voice it was behind him but still couldn’t help turning around in alarm. “I am the Captain's intended."
*
"Gods, Spock. You really saved my ass back there,” Jim gushed as they entered the guest quarters offered to them. “I don't know how to thank you enough. And I'm sorry that my little ruse means you're now forced to bunk with me."
"No thanks or apologies are necessary, Captain. It was Commodore Oh's responsibility to brief us on the details about the Phnturians traditions and values. And her office, as of late, has failed to do so."
"You really have a bone to pick with Oh's new tactical officer, don’t you,”
“I have ‘a bone’, as you say, Captain, with inefficiency and incompetence.”
“Wow, inefficiency and incompetence, even for you that’s hard. You must really be upset about our sleeping arrangements."
“No, Captain, that is not—”
“Relax, Spock. I’m just messing with you. Besides, we’ve shared quarters before it’s no big deal, right? Although...” Jim trailed off as he took in properly the room’s sleeping alcove. The smell of the room was divine, like vanilla, lavender, and strangely, freshly cut grass. There was no bed frame or mattress, only an elevated platform with a silk tent filled with an assortment of colorful pillows and quilts; the path leading up to it covered in white petals. There were also no artificial lights of any kind because the walls in that corner were completely transparent, letting the planet’s two moons loom brightly over them. He had never seen one, but Jim imagined that was how the newlyweds’ suites in a pleasure planet looked like. “Phnturians really go all out for couples, huh.” He turned to Spock but for some reason couldn’t look him straight in the eyes. “So, right tent side or left?”
*
Jim laid on his back staring at Phnturia's starry sky through the sheer fabric of their tent. He had tried miserably to fall asleep until he resigned himself to count shooting stars. His bed partner was turned away from him, completely still, but he somehow knew Spock was also awake.
The mission had been a success, the Emperor had lost interest in Jim's marital status and accepted the Federation's proposal for a mutually beneficial deal trade. But at what cost, Jim thought to himself. Spock had rescued him willingly from his loose tongue, only to give Jim the cold shoulder for the remainder of negotiations. Jim tried joking about their situation in an attempt to clear the air between them, but Spock was too far gone into the stiff and mechanical demeanor reminiscent of their earlier days. And just when Jim thought he'd started warming up to him.
"I'm sorry, Spock," Jim finally murmured, he couldn't stand the abyss that had formed between them any second longer. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable today. I don't even know why I said what I said."
"Apologies are unnecessary,” said Spock, back still turned to him.
"No. They are necessary when I have clearly crossed a boundary here. I know how much you guard your personal life and I as your captain, and friend, ought to never force you into a compromising position. Plus, you were forced to back me up on this lie when Uhura was right there,” Jim sighed. “And now you can’t even share a room on a gorgeous planet with your gorgeous girlfriend.”
“Jim.” Spock finally turned around to face him, brown furrowed in confusion.“ Lt. Uhura and I have terminated our relationship 5.2 months ago.”
“Wait, what? Well, ok. I didn’t know that, but anyway, my point still stands. I just want things to go back to normal between us." Spock remained silent, avoiding Jim’s gaze. "Talk to me, Spock. Please. I can't know what's going on in your head unless you talk to me."
"I do not... I do not wish for things to go on as before."
"You...?" Jim swallowed hard. "You don't want to work with me anymore?"
"No, Jim. On the contrary, the notion of being... involved with you in an amorous manner was extremely appealing to me. And for that, I am the one who must apologize. I am the one who crossed a boundary. I have already begun drafting my transfer papers and—"
Spock never got to finish his sentence because Jim stopped him with the only way his dumbass brain could come up with at that moment: with his own mouth.
.
.
.
"What now?"
"Now, Jim?"
"Yeah, what do we do? This doesn't have to, um, complicate things, if you don't want it to."
"I believe we do not have to do anything."
"Yeah, you're right, it was stupid of me to assume—"
"Since we have told our entire landing party I am your 'intended', and those officers have by now passed on this information to the whole crew, I believe we must continue to act accordingly. Lest we are accused of spreading falsehoods."
"Yeah, Mr. Spock, we can’t lie to our crew."
“No, we cannot, Jim.”

soriku little mermaid thread part 2
(Part 1)
Part 2: Saved by the Light
Starting with Ariel singing “Part of Your World”. I’m not gonna go line by line or anything, just wanna paraphrase certain parts. If you’re not familiar, the song is basically about Ariel wanting to live in the world outside of the ocean. Lol, cutting to the chase. Again, it’s basically Kh1 Riku.
One thing I want to specify is that even though the song is called “Part of Your World”, she doesn’t actually say “your” in the chorus at all. Not when she first sings it in her secret cave, where she has her collection of human stuff. Ariel just wants to be part of “that” world—the human world.
When she’s singing this, she’s in her cave, which has an opening at the top. The hole lets in light from the ocean’s surface, and Ariel reaches for it, but she can’t actually reach it obviously (bc the hole is too small lol). It’s all an obvious metaphor for how Ariel is stuck underwater while wanting to live up on land.
I wanna note that while the human world is obviously the land, what Ariel actually sings about, what she dreams of, is being in the sunlight. She reaches for the light above her cave, what you assume is the sun above the water. Underwater, sure, there’s light, but the light isn’t properly/directly touching her, she can’t directly feel it, it doesn’t fully reach her. She dreams of being outside of the water, so she can spend her days directly in the sun's light. The light represents and literally touches—encompasses—everything Ariel can’t have. (lol it’s a reverse lion king)
I gotta repeat how Ariel feels trapped in the water, and she is reaching for the light.
Cough. Riku trapped in darkness, reaching out his hand...to Sora. Riku, wanting to be, to live, in Sora’s light in general. (Letting Sora’s light shine onto his darkness.)
A shadow blocks out the light over Ariel’s cave, and she swims to the surface to check it out. Turns out it’s currently nighttime, which means the light Ariel was reaching for was actually the moon. Moonlight.
(Recoded flashbacks; the memory of Kh1 Riku reaching for the moon and bringing his hand to his chest dramatically, owie)
It gives me thoughts about Sora’s light, and vaguely hearing the idea of Sora being the moon, and Sora being closer to darkness than light. Like, as a personal headcanon ig, perhaps Sora’s light seems so bright because he’s reflecting Riku’s light, the way the moon reflects the sun, and has no light of its own. We know Riku’s light is like. Inhumanly bright. Like, Riku doesn’t just seem to have a bright light in his heart. It seems like he is light itself, or at least he’s connected to it in some way. Especially with all his sun imagery. So to me it’d make sense that even if Sora was merely reflecting Riku’s light (not to mention Riku’s light shines directly onto Sora’s heart), because Riku’s light is so impossibly bright, Sora’s would seem extremely bright as well. The reason Riku’s bright light hasn’t been “obviously attributed to him” is because he was cloaked in darkness ig. The way the sun’s light isn’t visible at night, though it continues to shine, and is only seen at dawn. And I mean, the light second to the sun in the day, is the light of the moon at night. 🤷🏽♀️
Anyway, the shadow Ariel saw was a ship. It’s shooting fireworks into the sky, and I mention this because I always gotta mention fireworks lol. Ariel swims up to the ship, sees the crew celebrating, but when she sees Eric, she instantly falls in love. And it just reminds me of how Riku has only ever had eyes for Sora, even since childhood lol.
But why is the crew celebrating? Apparently it’s Prince Eric’s birthday. And for his birthday, he is presented with—a statue. A statue, of himself. Of Eric. Man.
SORA’S STATUE. goodness.
Grimsby, the man who commissioned the statue, apparently had originally intended it as a wedding present, but that didn’t pan out because Eric didn’t fall for the princess he had been set up with.
“Believe me, Grim, when I find her, I’ll know. Without a doubt it’ll just—bam—hit me, like lightning.”
...sure, Sora. But it makes me wonder, once Sora does realize—would it be all at once? Versus Riku, who took his sweet time putting it to words in DDD lol. Who knows.
But lightning does strike—the ship. The ship burns, Eric’s heavy ass stone statue sinks into the ocean, Eric risks his life to save his dog—
Now Eric is drowning.
Sora, at the bottom of the abyss. But in my mind, it lines up more with Sora’s breakdown. His darkness caught up to him and overwhelmed him, and he finally confessed to feeling worthless. Riku expressed his belief in Sora, which helped Sora persist after death, and Riku sacrificed himself, which created the tear in time that let Sora rewrite the fated fall to darkness.
Riku saved Sora.
Ariel saves Eric.
We see them on the shore, under a cloudy sky the morning after the storm. Eric is breathing, but unconscious. Ariel calls Eric beautiful, when the night before she’d called him handsome, and I mention it because I love that line lol. Ariel touches Eric’s cheek and starts singing “Part of Your World”, but with changed lyrics.
This time, the song is specifically about Eric, not just humans in general. Ariel’s priority—her dream—has changed. Man. It’s DDD and Kh3 in one song! Nice.
The clouds part and the sun shines on Ariel and Eric on the shore. A literal ray of light.
Eric starts to wake up (and the sun only shines on him once Ariel’s voice wakes him), and he sees a girl surrounded by a bright light—
Eric, saved by the light.
Sora, saved by the light.
—and the girl is singing a song. “...part of your world.”
Your world. And I’m just here, thinking about Riku, and how his quote has changed from being about important people, to being about one important person. Riku doesn’t just want to see the outside world anymore, he wants to be part of Sora’s world, part of Sora’s life. ????? How to be “okay”??
Of course, Ariel has to swim away before Eric fully wakes up and realizes she isn’t human. And all Eric knows is: “A girl...rescued me. She was singing. She had the most beautiful voice.”
AND THAT’S IT, that's all he remembers. He only knows this mystery girl rescued him, he vaguely saw what she looks like, he heard her song, and that she has a beautiful voice.
Ugh. So little yet so much—SORA.
I can’t get over the in-game implication that at the very least, like Eric, the one moment Sora has memory issues with, is Riku’s sacrifice. Specifically the event of Riku saving him.
He doesn’t seem to remember the sacrifice, or who saved him, if Sora remembers he needed saving, which it seems he does. In eng, Sora tells Nameless Star that he “thought it was all over” for him, but that someone told Sora they believed in him.
All Sora remembers. Is that he was in trouble, that he was screwed, and that someone believed in him. And he acknowledges that that’s what’s helping him keep going, to literally persist after death.
But Sora doesn’t seem to remember WHO saved him.
The way Eric doesn’t know WHO rescued him.
And when I think of Eric only knowing Ariel by her voice, by her SONG (bc he didn’t get a good look at her)—I have to think of Sora and Riku’s song. The one that plays either completed or with half the song missing when Sora either defeats or loses to Yozora. Dearly. Beloved. And the fact Eric doesn’t know exactly what Ariel looks like—is a detail for later.
Another note I wanted to make was that at first, Ariel was reaching for the light. But now, we see that Ariel IS the light.
Riku reaching for Sora’s (moon)light, only for Riku to end up being the (sun)light himself.
??????
